Arsenal have lost the branding rights to ‘The Invincibles’ after former goalkeeper Jens Lehmann bought the trademark for £30,000 just before historic season’s 20th anniversary.

Lehmann plans on starting a company under the ‘Invincibles’ trademark, backed by all the players that featured in the Gunners’ 2003/04 title-winning season and Arséne Wenger himself. The club was blindsided by the purchase, with no one thinking of having the brand name registered before. However, with a documentary, organising an overseas tour and a match against a Manchester United legends team all possible uses for the trademark, Lehmann assures the club that ‘The Invincibles’ are in safe hands.

Lehmann has yet to set up the company, but once he does, the iconic squad from 20 years ago will all be shareholders. Any profits the company makes from potential ventures in the future will be donated to charity.

As the season winds down and Arsenal gears up to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Invincibles, the purchase puts them in a bit of a sticky situation. The Gunners might have to go back to the drawing board, and this time it’s best they get a trademark.
