Anthony Joshua has said he's interested in making a "serious investment" in his hometown club, Watford FC.
The two-time world heavyweight champion suggested an offer has already been tabled to the Championship club during an interview with SecondsOut, after current club owner Gino Pozzo openly welcomed potential investors having failed to secure enough support through a digital equity scheme last year.
The club is said to be seeking a valuation of around £175m, while Joshua's net worth is reported to be £62.5m. While nothing has come of the news yet, a successful bid would see him join a string of global athletes from outside the game making their move in minority club ownership, including Tom Brady and LeBron James.
Although AJ's direct experience with football is limited, his 258 MGT agency started representing Chloe Kelly last year. And while unlikely to be making calls from the boardroom, there's no doubt some heavyweight investment could help the Hornets steer themselves back towards the Premier League thanks to one of their own.
