Images via Manchester United Manchester United has opened a new high-performance training base for the women’s first team and academy sides at Carrington. The multi-million pound building boasts a state-of-the-art gym, large changing and boot rooms, rehabilitation facilities – including a jacuzzi – as well as an upstairs area that serves as a player lounge and restaurant. Manchester United’s Head of Women’s Football, Polly Bancroft, said: “We now have a high-performance environment to operate in, which will help take the team to the next level following the impressive performances we have seen on the pitch.“It is also important for the girls’ academy sides to see the players they admire having access to high-quality facilities to help them reach the highest level of the game themselves.”The new training base is a major step-up for Manchester United Women. One of the reasons former manager and England defender Casey Stoney left her position two years ago was because of the poor training facilities allocated to her then team. This upgraded building not only reflects the quality of the women’s first team, but provides an elite base for academy players to grow as the club works to provide the best possible environment for the present and future generation of players.
