Goodison Park isn’t going anywhere, and it’s about to make history as the home of Everton Women.

Everton have officially announced that the iconic 132-year-old stadium will become the new permanent home of their women’s team. After scrapping £82 million demolition plans, the club – now under The Friedkin Group – is giving the historic ground a second life as the UK’s largest dedicated women’s football stadium.

With the men’s side moving to a 53,000-seater at Bramley-Moore Dock this summer, Goodison’s 39,572 capacity will now be reserved for a new era of women’s football in Liverpool.

“This is a huge commitment to the women’s game,” said club CEO Angus Kinnear. “Keeping such an iconic stadium at the heart of our legacy project means everything.”

Everton Women have played at Walton Hall Park since 2020, a modest 2,200-capacity venue. Despite a rich history including a league title, domestic silverware and a Champions League run, the team’s fortunes have dipped in recent years. Now, with new owners and a bold vision, the ambition is clear: bring top-tier women's football back to the top, in a world-class home.

Plans include upgraded changing rooms, rebranding the stadium exterior to reflect the women’s team’s legacy, and retaining Walton Hall Park for grassroots girls’ football.

“This isn’t just about football – it’s about community, pride and future-proofing the women’s game,” said Everton Fan Advisory Board’s Julie Clarke. “Now however big women’s football gets, Everton will be ready.”

From Marine FC and Widnes Rugby to one of English football’s most iconic stages – Everton Women finally have a place to call home.
