adidas just reintroduced the iconic F50 boots with a brand-new ‘Advancement Pack,’ and this one comes with a pair made specifically with women ballers in mind.

Arriving as its own unique model in the pack, the F50 W Elite tweaks the eye-catching design to create a boot tailor-made for women’s feet and anatomy. Featuring the same lightweight upper as the laced and laceless models of the new boot, an added Primeknit collar provides extra stability and support for the ankle – crucial for quick turns and pivots.

After receiving feedback from players during the design process, an additional sockliner further stabilises the foot whilst providing increased arch support. Though this isn’t adidas’ first pair of women’s boots, the attention to detail and changes made specifically for women’s feet are certainly a new development in the world of boot design.

Research has been done on the rising injury rates in women’s football, with some researchers suggesting boots as a factor in the amount of ACL tears and other long-term injuries the sport has seen more of in recent years. With most popular boot manufacturers not making women-specific boots until the last two years or so, players have been forced to wear boots designed with men’s – and sometimes children’s – anatomy in mind.

With adidas joining the ranks of brands making boots tailor-made for women, the options available for women ballers are becoming as varied as they are for men.

The new F50 W Elite is available to purchase on the adidas website and select retailers now.
