The Women's Championship will be renamed WSL2 from the 2025/26 season as part of the Women's Professional Leagues Limited's (WPLL) wider rebrand.
The news comes as women's football enters a new era, with the WPPL rebranding as 'Women's Super League Football', an independent company overseeing the professional game in England.
The change to 'WSL2' sees the second tier return to its previous name, first introduced in 2014, which was switched out for the 'Women's Championship' in 2018. It brings it under the same umbrella as the WSL, after the WPLL took over both leagues ahead of last season, doing so with a new vision for the game in mind.
Both leagues have also received all-new brand identities, introducing new emblems, colour schemes, and word marks inspired by the movement of women's players, created using insight from EA SPORTS FC.
Although both the WSL and WSL 2 now have their own distinctive looks, the identity of each league is complementary to the other and is set to feature across kits, stadiums, match balls, and merchandise, with a new website also set to launch sometime during the summer.
