The Barcelona and Spain baller joins Beats by Dre's ever-growing roster of world class athletes as its newest global ambassador.

The partnership launches with a new campaign that presents Yamal as the CEO of ‘Lamine Records’, searching for the right song to soundtrack his match day. The short film follows him as he explores different sounds before a young fan helps him land on the perfect choice — giving a glimpse into his pre-match routine and connection to music.

The campaign features a cameo from Spanish-Moroccan rapper Morad, a favourite artist of Yamal’s. Both Morad and Yamal come from the same neighbourhood — the 304, Rocafonda, in Mataró — with the collaboration highlighting their shared roots and mutual respect.

"I love music for many reasons: it helps me focus before a match, it also helps me relax, and it's an escape into a world of fun," said Yamal. "For me, Beats is a brand that connects with my personality. I'm really happy to be working with them."

Yamal wears a custom pair of Beats Studio Pro headphones inspired by the colours of his football team in the campaign video and imagery — which also features the new Powerbeats Pro 2, Beats Pill, Studio Pro, and Beats Solo 4.

Chris Thorne, Chief Marketing Officer and Head of Product at Beats, said: "Having Lamine as part of the Beats family is a huge honour. Lamine creates magic on the pitch and we know that music is another huge passion for him. We wanted to storytell around his love of music and allow his fun and infectious personality to shine through.”

Yamal joins an impressive list of global athletes to work with Beats this year, including Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland, LeBron James, Qinwen Zheng and Alessia Russo.

You're the self-proclaimed DJ in the locker room - how do you choose the tracks to hype up your teammates?

“It depends on the day. I’m always switching up rhythms and artists. I usually play rap, trap, and afro beats.”

Who have you been listening to lately?

“Morad is always on the playlist. Myke Towers, some classic reggaetón...”

What kind of music helps you get ready for big moments?

“Besides the ones I mentioned, I’d say old-school rappers like 50 Cent and Eminem. I put on my Beats, turn up the volume, and get into game mode.”

Tell us a song or artist you love that we wouldn't expect from you.

“Maybe some flamenco… I don’t listen to it as often, but I really like it.”

What are your pre-match rituals with Beats by Dre?

“They travel with me everywhere. I usually use them to get into my own headspace - they help me focus. On flights, bus rides to the stadium, during the pitch walk-throughs - my Beats are always with me.”

What's your all-time favourite El Clásico moment?

“Well, there are a lot of historic ones, but now that I get to be part of it, I’d say the most recent Copa del Rey final. The way the match played out - and the fact that we won (laughs).”

What's one stadium you've never played in but would love to?

“There are so many I’ve yet to experience, especially outside of Europe. In Europe, some of the iconic ones I'd like to play in are Old Trafford and Anfield.”

Win the Champions League and La Liga with Barcelona or win the World Cup with Spain?

“I couldn’t choose. Every time I play, it’s to compete at the highest level and to win. So, I’d say all of them.”
