Technology has revolutionized football. From smartphones and social media enabling fans to have instant access to results from other games, to VAR enabling dubious decisions to be reviewed. The more technology advances, the more touchpoints fans can have with the beautiful game.

Ray-Ban has taken this to a whole new level. Most of the time, the beautiful game is usually captured in our memories or with our hands in front of our faces as we record precious moments. The Meta Smart Glasses however, are enabling the game to be seen through a different lens.

Prior to El Clásico in October, Ray-Ban sent out a pair of Meta Wayfarer's as I jetted off to witness Jude Bellingham’s greatness. Since then, I have used the glasses at football matches and enjoyed a new footballing experience.

The ability to capture great imagery and visuals with an ultra-wide 12MP camera and also livestream experiences seamlessly is partnered by the ability to also listen to music discreetly or notifications. All in one device.

From the approach of the stadium to viewing the game from the seats in despair as you await your team to break the deadlock. One thing that remains the same throughout all footballing experiences is that you want to be present in the moment. Here are three reasons why Smart Glasses are the new and best way to watch football games.

A New Type of Content Captured

Traditional content captured at a football match is often more of the same. But with Meta Smart Glasses recording from the eyes, there is a new POV. Everything recorded is as your eyes saw it. The difference being that rather than people seeing the scenes, they almost get to be in your shoes and feel how you felt.

Often whilst recording with the glasses, I have been able to capture instant reactions of those around me simply by looking around, creating a real in the moment encapsulation of a football game.

When looking back at these moments, it’s refreshing to know that these angles and collection of media are a true reflection of how I saw the game at that moment.

Football Becomes an Immersive Experience

Whilst the glasses are not in any way related to VR, the fact that so much technology is packed into glasses does give the feel of an immersive experience. Whilst being on the edge of my seat at games, I have also felt in my own world. Searching through my collection of post game content showcases this with various videos or photos of my browsing through stands, looking at fellow fans or even commentating on the game in anticipation of a goal.

It truly is seeing the game in a new lens.

Seamless Capture of Memories

One of the best things about the Meta Smart Glasses is how quickly all media captured is placed within the app and all together to make posting content seamless. Whilst most content capture is within one's library, these unique moments are all collated before they can be moved.

I have found this super helpful especially when reviewing all content recorded at various games. The ease of recording is also something to sing about. As mentioned previously, a phone requires you taking a phone out, framing and then recording whereas the Smart Glasses just require a tap of the glasses. The framing is your line of vision and there is no obstruction from seeing the action happen in real time. Truly a game changer.

To conclude, Smart Glasses are a must have to enhance one’s match-day experience. It’s time to see the game beyond the lens.
