The FA has launched the Football Leadership Diversity Code with aims to increase diversity and inclusion across senior roles in the game.
So far, over 40 clubs have committed to the voluntary code which will see 15% of new hires for broader team operations and coaching roles come from minor ethnicities whilst 30% of new senior leadership appointments being female candidates.
The Code aims to increase accountability and transparency within recruitment processes as football is known for being highly focussed on personal networks.
Paul Elliott, the head of the FA's inclusion and advisory board believes that the code will boost diversity throughout the game.
He said: “Many clubs are already doing good work in this area and we have been pleased to see football stand together this year to challenge the injustice we are seeing in society.
“However, positive and tangible action is required to drive change and take the next step. We believe the introduction of the Football Leadership Diversity Code will signal a long-term change for the English game.
“The number and stature of clubs that have already agreed to join us on this journey proves that together, with clear goals, transparency and a desire for action, we can shape a better future together.”

The clubs who have signed up to the charter include Premier League, English Football League, Women’s Super League and Women’s Championship clubs.
The Code is a great step to create change within the game. Based on targets as opposed to quotas, hopefully the Code will be adopted by more teams and ensure that recruitment in the game is based on merit whilst ensuring representation in football is reflective of society and the players on the field.
