PUMA have just linked up with the Italian national team to unveil ULTRAWEAVE, a new fabric used to create the lightest football shirt ever created.
The new performance-enhancing fabric is made from an ultra-light, tightly woven ripstop that is almost impossible to tear and extremely lightweight - making it one of the most aerodynamic jerseys of all time.
Following years of vigorous wear testing with PUMA athletes, the tech is engineered for ballers to hit new levels of speed on the pitch.
Weighing in at just 72g, the kit is over 100g lighter than Italy’s kit that they donned on the way to winning EURO 2020, with the new ULTRAWEAVE version featuring 4-way engineered mechanical stretch that will make PUMA players and teams faster and more dynamic.
The lightweight woven fabric is constructed from 2-dimensional ripstop structure that stays durable while enhancing player movement and drastically reducing weight, with a specially crafted pattern reducing the conventional design of four to eight panels into just two main panels. The ULTRAWEAVE jerseys also feature a new print technique for team/federation and PUMA logos, which is lighter and more breathable than traditional transfers.
The jersey is also sustainable in ethos, with dryCELL recycled polyester used throughout the design drying quickly and reduces water retention, allowing optimal performance in all weather conditions.
PUMA's new ULTRAWEAVE technology will donned for the first time by the Azzurri in their Nations League semi-final against Spain on Wednesday.
