PUMA and Borussia Dortmund have announced the release of a limited edition blackout kit to be worn this weekend against Hertha Berlin.

The city of Dortmund was built on coal and steel industries that fuelled the growth of the Ruhr region in the 19th and 20th centuries, and the team's one-of-a-kind blackout kit is a nod to those very industries.

This latest release takes its base colour from the coal mined in the area and features an inlaid map of the city, whilst player names and numbers on the back of the shirt are designed to look like steel.

Although a limited edition drop, Dortmund certainly haven't been strangers when it comes to gifting their fans with special edition strips over the years.

In 2020, they released another blackout kit to celebrate the club's 110th anniversary - a shirt Jadon Sancho described as "the best he's ever worn" - and last year, Die Schwarzgelben debuted a 90s-inspired retro that crashed the BVB website.

This year's blackout shirt will be available in limited numbers from 10am CET on Saturday, 18 February via the club's website and apparently every order comes with a special piece of coal. Wunderbar!
