Hoping to provide creative and tech support for a selection of Sunday league clubs across the UK, Samsung has teamed up with East-London’s Baiteze FC to give grassroots clubs the chance to learn from the reigning FA Sunday Cup champions and YouTube stars.
Open to all UK-based football clubs, the academy will see the two connect with a host of football creators and tech experts, offering both face-to-face and virtual masterclasses that will help Sunday League sides take their content game to the next level.
A selection of five clubs will have the chance to learn, with Samsung giving them a range of their line of technology; including the Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphone and Samsung Z Fold3. The academy will entail clubs cultivating and sharing their stories online like Baiteze, who have broadcasted their grassroots journey on and off the pitch since 2017.
Baiteze Director, Ose Egbejale, said: “Grassroots football in the UK is unlike anywhere in the world. There has never been a blueprint, but that’s what makes it so special because every team has its own unique identity and community. Helping the next generation of teams is something we’re incredibly passionate about, so it’s fantastic to team up with Samsung, to create a platform to be able to do just that”.
After a tough few years for grassroots football, both sides hope the academy will help elevate visibility for clubs and inspire a new wave of sides entering the content world. With the right direction, support, and access to technology, we could see several clubs following in the footsteps of clubs like Baiteze.
Clubs can apply by sharing a video about their club on Instagram using #SamsungGrassroots and @ing @SamsungUK by July 25 to have the chance of winning a place.
