Mitre has teamed up with Sunday League legend Steve Bracknall, marking a new chapter for the iconic British football brand's commitment to the grassroots game.
The Assistant Manager of Royal Oak FC — who has become a cult hero online – is the latest name to join Mitre's roster, and his team will now train and compete with Mitre gear throughout the season.
Royal Oak currently play in the fourth tier of the Sheffield Sunday Imperial League, but this link up brings them a step closer to levelling up through the pyramid.
“Royal Oak, like any decent team, want to play with a proper quality ball, and Mitre delivers on that, at all levels of the game,” Bracknall said. “Whether that’s training sessions with their Impel balls in the pouring rain or the Rolls Royce of footballs – the Ultimax Pro – at finals at Wembley. Like me, they’re real football through and through.”
A long-time admirer of the brand, Bracknall now brings that connection directly to the club — part of a wider effort from Mitre to support and elevate teams at the grassroots level.
As part of the launch, Bracknall will also appear in a short film titled “20 Questions With…” on Mitre channels. Set on a local pitch, the piece offers a personal glimpse into Bracknall’s story — covering everything from his footballing background to why Mitre has remained a constant in his journey.
All hail the King of Sunday League football.
