Japanese sportswear brand Mizuno has joined forces with five-time Champions League winner Sergio Ramos for its new lifestyle capsule.
The new collection arrives in signature tones with metallic hits and bold silhouettes, with the ‘Techno Safari’ range taking inspiration from electronic dance music thanks to its free-flowing cuts and dark hues – perfect for club nights, weekend hikes and city explorations.
Functional and fashionable, and suited to outdoor adventures, the drop includes a three-layer Gore-Tex jacket that provides ultimate waterproof and windproof protection from the elements. The ‘Thistle’ iteration, as worn by the 2010 World Cup champion and Spanish footballing legend, arrives in an almost white lavender hue, an ideal colourway to break away from that winter wardrobe rotation.
Ramos also models Mizuno’s ‘WR Light Windbreaker’ – the perfect springtime layering option. The jacket offers wind-resistance protection with a water-repellent finish for added versatility whilst its relaxed fit ensures peak comfort. The colour-block design makes the release a versatile one, great for accompanying a range of cuts, styles and colours.
In 2022, Mizuno announced Ramos as a brand ambassador but the duo’s relationship goes way back. The 39-year-old grew up playing football wearing the Japanese boots, citing them as a firm favourite due to their durability. Since officially signing with the brand, Ramos has already been blessed with three signature boot drops.
As the worlds of football and fashion continue to converge, seeing the likes of Ramos fronting a campaign rooted in gorpcore should come as no surprise to fans. But the fact a baller with such an illustrious career, who's seemingly done and achieved everything possible on the pitch, is still pushing the envelope off it is something to celebrate. The embodiment of 'Kaizen'.
The ‘Techno Safari’ collection will be available from Mizuno's online store and select retailers.
