Ola Aina and Trevoh Chalobah have joined a group of 40 footballers investing in Sokito – one of the first sustainable football boot brands.

The £1.1 million investment is set to support the UK-based brand’s international expansion. After previewing the ‘Scudetta’ boots during AFCON, with Nigeria captain William Troost-Ekong debuting them during the tournament, global interest in the greenest boots around has only increased.

The investment roster features players from the world’s biggest leagues, spanning France, Germany, the USA and the Premier League’s very own Aina and Chalobah.

Players investing in different aspects of football has been common practice for a few years now, with ballers joining ownership groups of lower league clubs and opening up academies in their home countries. However, Aina and Chalobah’s investment is different.

Climate change is a global issue that football needs to address, and with Sokito actively trying to change the narrative and the way football interacts with the planet, two high-profile players lending their support means so much more. Here’s to more players funding sustainability in football in the future.
