Liverpool's Divock Origi has partnered with the University of Liverpool to launch a new scholarship for young people wanting to further their education.

'The Divock Origi Scholarship' will be offered on a competitive basis to two students from the City of Liverpool, and bolsters the university's mission to improve the social mobility of their students by enabling access to and participation in higher education.

The scholarship will be open to two undergraduate students in the 2021/22 academic year and will cover tuition fees (£9,250 per year), as well as an annual payment of £3,000 towards living costs. A third student will also be funded in the 2022/23 academic year, followed by a fourth and final student in 2023/24.

The Belgian 26-year-old came up clutch in the club's Champions League winning season in 2019 and has now lived in the North West of England for seven years. Origi now wants to give back to the City that has given him so much: "From a purpose perspective and understanding the position of influence and impact I’m blessed to have, I know the importance of being given an opportunity, while also truly believing in the ability of future generations to achieve greatness."
