Nike and The Basement are coming together as a force for good.
Founded in December 2013, The Basement is a London-based collective – bonded by their passion of culture and community – connecting the city’s young creatives through inclusive online and offline platforms. Now, they've linked up with Nike to create a Dunk that celebrates and supports the diversity of London's young people.
The Nike Dunk Low BSMNT, designed by 18-year-old Basement member Daniel Pacitti, combines nine materials, including canvas, corduroy denim and leather.
Additional design details include a new BSMNT Swoosh logo on the tongue, foot bed and heel, as well as a reflective, embroidered mini swoosh on the lateral side of the toe. The Basement logo, a series of lines representing nine rungs of a ladder, is also reflective and embroidered on the lateral side of the heel.
All proceeds from the shoe will go toward the Youth Futures organization, which currently provides mentorship programming to London youth, in addition to space for meals and doing homework. The Basement plans to support the creation of a media production suite at Youth Futures as a way of enabling more young people to create and share stories through multiple mediums. The suite would provide resources for photography and video production, graphic and web design and social media management.
The Nike Dunk Low BSMNT is available exclusively at The Basement x Nike pop-up in London on July 29. The pop-up address will be announced that morning via Basement channels.
